Central Cooperative Myanmar Society ( CCMS ) are involved in all sectors of economy, in the production there are agricultural and industrial (SME) cooperatives. Agricultural cooperatives which include production and marketing are the backbone of the movement. In industry, it is mostly small and medium enterprises. The service sector of cooperatives is led by saving and credit cooperatives. It also includes health-care, 100 bedded and 16 bedded hospitals and transportation. Many primary societies are involved in activities like electrification, supply of clean water. Micro-financing is also introduced in many areas where most of seed money is released from CCS. The micro-financing institutions after one year old and with total membership of 1000 will be formed into a credit union society. In trade sector, there are consumer and trading cooperatives. Export and import activities are realised by those societies.

The CCS is engaged in business and cooperative promotional activities. It also carries out cooperative education and training activities in collaboration with the Department of Cooperative Development. The primaries are multipurpose in character and provide credit, input supply and marketing of member’s produce in addition to allied services. Owning and operating processing facilities like rice mills, oil expellers, condensed milk manufacturing, salt plants, textile mills and other workshops, do value adding. Rice and rice products, beans and pulses, maize etc are exported and fertiliser, machineries and other consumer food etc. are imported.
